Dad shot, I shoot is an exploration into the medium of photography and its inherent slippage of time, place, and memory. The work asks questions of what happens when multiple subjectivities come together in one space. How do they compromise, shift, and make way for each other?

My father had aspirations to become a professional photographer in his twenties. As a result, he has an archive of photo slides taken during a time when he was still living in Hong Kong and not yet had his first child. I am also without children but live in Australia, now with similar aspirations to a version of my father I cannot meet. We never talk about photography.
