scenes from a day, 2021
Inspired by 66 Scenes of America by Jørgen Leth, scenes from a day is an intuitive collection of mundane actions performed among interior spaces, landscapes, and collections of objects. Filmed at dawn and twilight, an atmosphere of suspension reflects the diasporic body that is held between multiple cultures. The intimate language of diary-style vlogging is limited by a dissonant jumble of sounds and images, disrupting a total grasp of my identity. I call upon Édoaurd Glissant’s plea for opacity, and withhold from external gazes that look to pick apart.
